Bukit Tinggi or Berjaya Hills is located a short distance away from Kuala Lumpur and Genting Highlands considering the whole area of Malaysia or even Pahang. It is about an hours drive from both of these places. Berjaya Hills Resort is about 825m above sea level.

Bukit Tinggi has a few places of interest such as the Colmar Tropicale area, Japanese Garden area, Organic Farm, Rabbit Park and 18-hole international standard golf course. Colmar Tropicale is actually Berjaya Hills Resort which started around 2002.

Berjaya Hills Resort is based on French theme, the 16th century Colmar town in Alsace, France. The Colmar Tropicale area is like a little town. The Colmar Tropicale 'town' is actually hotel in the form of houses. The houses are hotel rooms of Berjaya Hills Resort. The ground floor of the houses are used as shops which are mostly restaurants. There is a bridge towards the main entrance into Colmar Tropicale. It has garden on the outer side of the 'town' and a stage area inside the 'town'. There were some stalls along the road inside the 'town'.

Another place of interest in Bukit Tinggi is the Japanese Garden area. This garden is situated about 1065m above sea level. Tourist are advised to take the free shuttle tram from the Colmar Tropical Bus Stand to the Japanese Garden Bus Stand. In there, you can go to the Japanese Tea House area and Botanical Garden area. The Japanese Tea House is situated in a jungle environment with ponds and waiting house. The house has about 3 rooms. Here tourist can watch the Japanese Tea Ceremony at a scheduled time and rent kimono for photo shooting. This tea house is the first in the world to be in a tropical forest. Apart from the Japanese Tea House, there is a Spa house and a suite.

The Botanical Garden is very jungle like. It is very cooling and has a restaurant, a few resting places with roof and viewing huts. Some of the plants there are named with some explanation about them. The plants areas are divided in areas such as Liliaceae, Heliconiaceae, Bromeliaceae, Coataceae, Araceae and Marantaceae in the jungle area, Orchidaceae, Melastomataceae and Theaceae in the restaurant surroundings. It is quite a nice jungle garden.

It rained twice when I was at Berjaya Hills. The first was in Botanical Garden where I took shelter under the trees before running to the shelter area when the rain was not that heavy. The trees were a good umbrella because the rain was like sprinkling on me only. The second time was when I was in the tower at the other end of the Colmar 'town'. The weather was very nice.

I walked back from the Japanese Garden area to Colmar Tropicale area. It took me about 30 minutes. On the way to Colmar Tropicale, I passed through the Chateau Spa Resort. Chateau Spa Resort is a boutique spa hotel also based on French theme, modelled after 18th Century 'Haut Koesnigburg' Castle in Alsace, France. The building looks like a castle with witches hats to me. When I was there, the place was like still not completed and so I did not enter. It was said that the Chateau will have about 215 rooms with Renaissance decor with other shops offering health and beauty services, conventional halls and fine dining restaurant.

Then I walk through the back way into Le Chevalier which looks like a castle fort with witches hats too. Le Chevalier has a few levels of parking spaces and function rooms. In front of Le Chevalier is a fountain given from Alsace in year 2001 with Colmar Tropicale in the background. The fountain has 2 stocks in their nest symbolizing fecundity.

Food can be found in restaurants in Colmar Tropicale. The food there are affordable where you can find a meal ranging from about RM20 to RM35. The is also a restaurant in Botanical Garden area. This restaurant serves Japanese food. I did not see the prices of the food.

For transportation to Berjaya Hills Resort, you can get a shuttle bus or van from Berjaya Time Square in Kuala Lumpur. It costs about RM40.00 for a 2-way transfer. However, the shuttle bus people will take another RM12.00 for entrance fee into Colmar Tropicale where the bus / van will drop tourists. There are 2 trips per day to Berjaya Hills Resort and from Berjaya Time Square. The entrance fee include a free trip to Japanese Garden area. To get shuttle ticket to go to Rabbit Park or other places, ask the reception staff in the first house on the left as you enter Colmar Tropicale.

Lastly, kindly help keep this place clean by throwing your rubbish into dustbins.
