Kuala Terengganu is the capital and the royal town of Terengganu. It has quite a number of places to visit. I stayed in a budget hotel, Ping Anchorage Travellers Inn for 2 nights. Its distance from the Kuala Terengganu Bus Terminal is almost the same as its distance from Shahbandar Square.

The first is the Abidin Mosque, also known as White Mosque. It was built in 1793 during the rule of Sultan Zainal Abidin II using wood. It was later rebuilt using stone. A few other renovations such as adding minarets and domes were done until how it looks like today.

Beside Abidin Mosque is the Maziah Palace. This palace was built during Sultan Zainal Abidin III rule in 1897. Previously, it was called the Green Palace. It was built using limestone and materials such as clay, salt, egg white and honey. Now, Maziah Palace is used for royal occasions and reception of foreign dignitaries.

Outside Maziah Palace facing the sea is Maziah Garden. This garden has a big model of betel leaves canister as a reminder of the betel leaves eating times.

Puteri Hill is situated behind the Maziah Palace. Puteri Hill can be accessed through a gate beside the Tourist Information Centre which is situated between the Post Office and the Warisan Bazaar.

Warisan Bazaar is a building for shoplots. The shops here sell most handicraft products from batik and garments to brassware. It closes at about 6pm.

Kuala Terengganu Passenger Jetty is opposite the Tourist Information Centre. Beside it is the Puteri Floating Restaurant which was not ready yet when I was there. All the places I mentioned above are quite near Shahbandar Square.

Just a little further down is Payang Big Market. This is a wet market and there are many stalls selling kuih and cooked food too. Small convenient shops can be found. Walk a a little further down and turn left to go to Chinatown. Not far away from Chinatown is Keledang Hill, a burial site for the Royal families in the olden days. The gate to go up the stairs of this hill was closed noth times when I visited the place.

On the third night, I stayed in Terengganu Hotel, also a budget hotel because I did not booked for another night at the other inn earlier. Ping Anchorage do take bookings for its inn, so its better you tell them early and not on the morning that you want to stay for another night. One Terengganu Hotel reception told me to just walk-in on the day I wanted to check-in when I walked-in to book a room for the next night. Both places are also about RM38 for a fan room.

Lastly, if you were to visit any where in Terengganu, kindly keep the places clean by throwing your rubbish into rubbish bins.
