Penang Ikan / Sotong Bakar (Malay)
Bakar means burn, more like barbecue but on metal rods over fire. Ikan is fish. Sotong is cuttlefish. So, ikan bakar is barbecued fish and sotong bakar is 'burned' or barbecued cuttlefish.
For Sotong Bakar, before the cuttlefish is 'burned', it has to be rolled through a 'Roller' to make it into thin slice. The sauce used for this food / dish is chilied prawn paste. Sotong Bakar is more of a appetiser. One small plate is about RM7.00.
