Penang Nasi Kandar (Indian)
Nasi Kandar stall is mainly a name for a stall selling Indian curry dishes / food. This stall usually sells all kinds of curry dishes - from curried meat to curried vegetables. The meat found in this stall are usually chicken and mutton. If the seller is an Indian Muslim, then beef can also be found. 
However, when people see the stall 'Nasi Kandar', it is usually Indian Muslim stall - meaning beef can be found. Indians like Chinese usually do not take beef unless they are Christians or Muslims. I feel Indian food stalls are cheaper than Indian Muslim stalls. So, you should try both Indian 'Mixed Food Stall' (Chinese call 'Chap Fun') and Indian Muslim stalls called Nasi Kandar. If not mistaken, most Indian Muslim Nasi Kandar stalls put a little 'drug' inside the dish for whatever reason, I don't know. Maybe because of this, Indian Muslim Mixed Food Stalls are more famous than Indian Mixed Food Stalls. The prices of the dishes (vege and meat) are between RM0.60 to RM2.50. |
